Injectables (Botox®)

Is Botox® right for me?

Healthy adult men and women between the ages of 30 to 50 who are seeking a temporary solution to wrinkles, with no downtime, are fantastic candidates for Botox® injections. Botox is an amazing way to temporarily reduce the appearance of crow’s feet, marionette lines, laugh lines, frown lines, and more.

If you fear needles, are allergic to Botox or the metal in the needles, or are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to get pregnant, Botox may not be right for you.

Why consider Botox injections?

Setting realistic expectations will help you get the most out of your Botox injections. Get in front of the mirror, make some expressions, and note what lines and wrinkles bother you the most. Then express this to our physician injector to ensure your priorities are ours.

Botox is most commonly injected into the forehead, between the eyebrows, in the corners of the eyes, around the nose, and in the sides of the chin to temporarily reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles formed by your everyday facial expressions.

Botox is not designed to make you look physically different, nor will it enhance your features as fillers can, but it provides a fresher, smoother, and more youthful version of you.

If you are over the age of 50 or after a longer term solution to wrinkles and lines, we may recommend other aesthetic treatments like laser treatments or microchanneling along with your Botox injections to achieve your desired results.

What is the difference between Botox and fillers?

Botox is a neurotoxin injection, designed to temporarily relax muscles that cause expression lines and wrinkles. Are the lines and wrinkles you want to treat caused by facial expressions like smiling, frowning, or squinting? If so, Botox may be an excellent option!

Like we mentioned earlier, fillers are most appropriate for enhancing features like lips and providing volume to cheeks. If you have bothersome lines or wrinkles that are deeper set, and not caused by expressions, you may ask about adding dermal fillers to your appointment for Botox.

Am I too young for Botox?

Since everyone’s skin is unique and ages differently, there is no set age that you should begin Botox injections. We typically find, however, that Botox is most effective in the long-term when we can relax muscles before the expression lines can even form or right when they begin to appear. These expression wrinkles, lines, and folds can be most effectively prevented with “Baby Botox” injections between ages 25 and 30.

How long do Botox injections last?

Botox is a temporary treatment for expression lines and wrinkles. This means that after the effects of the neurotoxin wear off, the muscles will be free to contract again and can continue to create wrinkles and folds in the skin.

Since you could not form any new wrinkles for a few months, you will still look great for several months after the effects of your Botox injections completely wear off. However, if you want to maintain your smooth complexion over a long period, you must consider more injections.

Most clients are happy with the results of their Botox for 3 to 6 months before returning to our office for another round of injections to maintain their smooth, wrinkle-free complexion.

Is now the right time to get Botox?

Many get Botox so they can look great for a big event, like their wedding day. However, to achieve the look you want when you want it, it is important to time the injections precisely.

Unlike fillers, the effects of Botox are not immediate. Clients typically see results 2 to 3 days after and last for 4 months, on average. Some clients experience light bruising and swelling after their injections. Make sure you tell your injector your timeline and motivations for having the treatment. This way, we can guide you on exactly when you should schedule your appointment for Botox injections.

It’s important to note that Botox is ineffective at treating the wrinkles and lines caused by photoaging, or exposure to UV radiation from the sun. The injected product also diminishes quicker when exposed to direct sunlight, so do not abandon your daily SPF 30+ routine before, during, or after your Botox treatments! This may be a consideration when deciding the best time of year to have Botox.

Are there any Botox side effects I should be concerned about?

Everyone reacts differently to facial injections like Botox, but it is important to know that there are no significant risks or pain associated with Botox. Though you can go back to your normal routine right after your Botox injections, and clients report minimal discomfort during the injections, we recommend planning your appointment at a time that you can go home and rest for a few hours afterwards in case you experience redness or swelling.

During your free Botox consultation, we will closely examine your features and listen to your goals to create a treatment plan that best suits your lifestyle.

Testimonial

Thank you to Whitney and the Aesthetic Center staff. Whitney has done Botox injections for my 11’s and forehead twice. Both times she was professional and very patient. I like that she is aware that Botox is a luxury for some of us and is conscientious to treat your specific area of concern correctly with a plan tailored just for you. Great results!
